Ms. Patricia H. Schumaker, President, has more than 29 years of experience within private industry and in consulting for state and local government agencies, utility and telecommunication companies, manufacturing and distribution companies, and service organizations. Prior to Schumaker & Company, she held various positions within ADP Network Services, including Director-Information Services, Director-National Accounts, and Director-Professional Services, as well as other managerial, technical, and sales positions. Ms. Schumaker also performed numerous studies for government, utility, manufacturing, retail, and service clients while an auditor and consultant with Arthur Andersen. She is a C.P.A. and holds a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan, where she has also completed post-graduate coursework. She is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).

She has participated as an Engagement Manager, Project Manager, and/or Lead Consultant in the areas of organization and management, accounting and financial management, affiliate relationships and transactions, information technology and systems, human resources, customer service, and support services on numerous management and operations improvement assignments. She also has been responsible for project management and quality assurance projects involving management information systems planning and optimization, needs and feasibility assessments, user requirements and systems specifications, and systems development, implementation, and ongoing support.


Mr. Dennis J. Schumaker has over 29 years of business and consulting experience with both public and private sector entities. Mr. Schumaker’s wide-ranging consulting experience encompasses expertise in executive management and staffing, corporate organization and structure, operations planning, operations (electric, telephone, gas, and water) and maintenance, procurement, strategic and corporate planning, corporate policy, administrative procedures, external relations, engineering and construction (electric, telephone, gas, and water), information technology, and affiliated transactions. He began his career as a design engineer with the Bechtel Corporation, after which he joined Theodore Barry & Associates. He acquired more than eight years of consulting experience with TB & A before becoming one of the original founders of Schumaker & Company in 1986. Mr. Schumaker holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Ohio State University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), Project Management Professional (PMP), Microsoft Certified Professional plus Internet, a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT).

His experience includes both public (federal, state, and local government and agencies) and private (manufacturing, utilities, and service companies) entities. He has conducted management and operational assessments of various aspects of state and local government entities. He has provided project management and quality assurance services regarding the implementation of new business processes involving information technology for state and local government entities. He has lead the design and development of new business processes and the associated information technologies to support those business processes. He has consulted extensively in the utility industry for publicly and privately owned companies. He has acted as the Engagement Manager/Project Manager on numerous management reviews at the request of both state regulatory commissions and utilities and has provided testimony before regulatory commissions on selected projects.


Mr. Martin J. Murphy's background includes 27 years of consulting experience in the manufacturing, distribution, and utility industries. This broad-based background has imbued him with a significant depth of experience in operations, information systems, engineering, and management. This experience allows him a unique perspective from which to perform required investigations and analyses, develop viable findings, and formulate appropriate recommendations for improvement. He has led or participated in numerous projects focusing on the identification and implementation of operational and/or organizational enhancements in the manufacturing, distribution, and utility industries. This cross-industry experience allows him to import the latest procedural and technological advances from one industry to another. He is particularly adept at bridging the gap between operations and information systems, allowing him to implement information systems and applications in such a manner as to provide the required support to the operations of the subject organization. His information technology-related assignments have focused on the selection and implementation of a number of ERP packages and the requisite hardware for various manufacturing and distribution clients. His operational assessment assignments have focused on the review of numerous functional areas including manufacturing process improvement, inventory control, engineering and construction, purchasing and materials management, construction program planning, affiliated interests, transportation, legal services, facilities management, risk management and finance, operational efficiency assessment, project planning and management, organizational analysis, budgeting and cost control, and technical and economic feasibility evaluation.

While in a Senior Manager role in the Management Consulting group at KPMG Peat Marwick, Mr. Murphy headed the Carolinas Operations Improvement group. He also was a member of the Management and Operations Analysis group at Theodore Barry & Associates. Additionally, he served as the Director of Management Information Systems for Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company and led that international manufacturing firm through the implementation of the full Oracle ERP applications package. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and a member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society. Mr. Murphy received a BS and MEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
